CMP Advanced Mechanical Solutions
Announces Closure of Ottawa Manufacturing Operations
Consistent with Strategy of Aligning Resources in Regional Proximity to Market Needs
August 9, 2006
Chateauguay, Quebec – CMP Advanced Mechanical Solutions announced today
that it will cease manufacturing operations at its Ottawa location in
November of 2006. The closure is consistent with the Company’s
operational strategy of aligning manufacturing resources in regional
proximity to market needs.
“The Ottawa operations unfortunately ceased to have regional
relevance, as we evaluated our current Customers' market needs”,
commented CEO Steve Zimmermann. “This was a difficult but necessary
decision that is consistent with CMP’s Regional Manufacturing Strategy
of delivering cost effective regional supply solutions to our
strategic Customers' manufacturing needs”.
The Company is projecting continued growth over the next five years
in its served markets and foresees an enhanced geographic alignment
of manufacturing facilities as a critical component in serving a
broader geographic North American customer base. This regional
alignment, coupled with CMP’s enclosure design expertise, advanced
manufacturing technologies, lean manufacturing practices and demand
pull replenishment systems, will position CMP as the North American
leader of enclosure system solutions.
Comprehensive outplacement services have been provided to all
affected Ottawa operations employees. These services include active
employer recruiting, as well as opportunities for relocation to other
CMP North American plants. It is the intention of the Company to
leverage all available resources to minimize the employment impact
on the (45) employees located at the Ottawa operations.
