Acquires Machining and Fabrication Center from Universal Instruments
July 3, 2006
Chateauguay, Quebec – CMP Advanced Mechanical Solutions, a market leader in providing
complete enclosure solutions including product design, engineering, manufacturing
and electro-mechanical integration services, announced the acquisition of Universal
Instruments’ Machining and Fabrication Center in Binghamton, NY.
“This is another strategic milestone for CMP Advanced Mechanical Solutions" ,
stated CEO Steve Zimmermann. “Expanding our breadth of capabilities to
include machining further enhances CMP’s position as the premier North
American provider of total mechanical enclosure solutions.”
Mr. Zimmerman continued, “The establishment of CMP NY as a center of
excellence for machining technology allows CMP to address the majority
of our Customer’s mechanical enclosure needs. We believe that this
increased breadth of capability and acquired competency uniquely
positions CMP to deliver extremely compelling supply chain propositions
for our North American Customers.”
The CMP NY manufacturing operation is housed in a modern 80,000 square
foot facility, located in Binghamton, NY. CMP has retained all of the
employees previously employed by Universal Instruments at the
Fabrication Center, enabling the transfer of proven expertise to the
new operation. “The sale of the fabrication plant to CMP is part of
an ongoing endeavour to continually optimize the efficiency of our
own operations, representing a great opportunity for both Universal,
CMP, and the local community,” explained Universal’s Maynard Wiff,
VP of Binghamton Operations. “I am confident that this marks the
start of a long and successful partnership between these two
influential companies.”
Universal Instruments, a global electronics productivity specialist
providing innovative circuit, semiconductor, and back-end assembly
technologies and equipment to manufacturers in every sector of the
electronics industry, is a current CMP Customer.
